Climate Change and Sustainability

Business and development leaders across the world must respond to environmental and social changes from population growth, urbanization and expanding wealth to resource scarcity, declining ecosystems and climate change. If a company is to successfully manage the risks and opportunities of these changes, and build a business that is sustainable in the long term, it needs to go on a journey.

Our member firms work with organizations on that journey. Our sustainability professionals can support you from start to finish, or at specific points on the journey where you need help the most. We provide innovative, affordable and sustainable solutions that reduce costs through more efficient use of resources and pave the way for future generations to meet their own needs.

Climate change presents a fundamental challenge to lives, livelihoods and sustainable development with the poorest countries likely to be most severely affected. These countries are less likely to have the resources and capacity to adapt to the short and long-term impacts of a changing climate. Preventing some of the worst impacts of climate change is a pressing policy priority for the global community. Government policy-makers need access to robust evidence from impact assessments and economic models to make informed decisions around climate change mitigation and adaptation, and the likely impacts of adopting low carbon growth strategies.

dkompany designs, implements and evaluates climate change mitigation and adaptation policies, analyse the costs of inaction, and provide training in related fields.

The poorest are often the most vulnerable to the impacts of natural disasters. With climate change threatening to increase the frequency of extreme weather events, the challenge facing governments and the international community is how to design and implement effective solutions that can still contribute to sustainable livelihoods. Risk assessments and risk reduction strategies must be based on in-depth analysis of the likelihood and frequency of extreme events, and all their potential impacts.

dkompany designs, implements and evaluates disaster risk management policies, analyse the costs of inaction, and provide training in related fields, among other services.

With half the world’s population set to be living in areas of high water stress by 2030, water resources and security is an increasingly pressing concern. Managing water resources requires balancing water demands for basic human needs, livelihoods and ecosystem services, as well as disaster risk management related to water.

dkompany's core expertise lies in water resources economics and management, alongside a strong cross-sectoral reputation for process and impact evaluation
